Balatro is the most dangerous $15 on Steam

Balatro is like video poker got kidnapped by a roguelike deckbuilder - and came back wrong in all the right ways. On paper it's poker hands. In practice it's a scoring engine that turns a pair of twos into a number your calculator gives up on. The whole thing runs on Jokers - little modifiers you stack until your deck stops making sense. One run you're playing it straight. The next you've built a machine that only scores flushes and multiplies everything by the phase of the moon. That "wait, can I break this?" itch is the entire game, and it never stops itching. Here's the thing - it looks like nothing. CRT filter, a handful of sounds, zero story. And it'll still eat your night. "Just one more run" is the most expensive sentence in this game, and it's free to say. The poker skin scares people off, and I get it. But you don't need to know poker - you need to know that a bigger number is better. That's the whole ramp. If you liked Slay the Spire's "build a broken thing" loop, this is that with the deck you already grew up with. At fifteen bucks this is bar none one of the easiest pickups on Steam. The move is to not look at your playtime after.

Stay in the loop
